Reasons to call
- Vomiting, diarrhea or reduced appetite
- Coughing, sneezing or changes in breathing
- Straining to urinate or changes in urine output
- Limping, pain, weakness or reduced activity
- Eye, ear or skin concerns
- New lumps, swelling or wounds
- Sudden behavior changes
This list is not exhaustive. If you are worried, call and describe what is happening. Same-day availability varies with patient needs and the existing schedule.
Seek emergency care immediately for difficulty breathing, collapse, uncontrolled bleeding, repeated seizures, severe trauma, suspected poisoning, a distended painful abdomen, inability to urinate or another life-threatening concern. Do not wait for email advice.
Help us understand what changed
Note when signs started, how often they occur and whether appetite, drinking, urination or stool have changed. Videos can be useful for intermittent coughing, limping, tremors or unusual behavior.
Should I email a medical question?
Call for active medical concerns. Email is not continuously monitored and cannot replace examination or emergency triage.
